The Labour Parties in Haringey have selected 45 candidates who oppose the HDV to stand for it in the May 2018 Council elections. Only 12 of its candidates support the joint venture with Lendlease.
The selection of a majority of candidates against the HDV (45-12) is a dramatic turnaround; and, as the Liberal Democrats also oppose the HDV, it seems certain the incoming Council will be against progressing the HDV. The current Council leadership has been told they have no mandate for the HDV, and it would be a scandal (and financially irresponsible) if they do anything to commit to the scheme before May. But there are still 5 months to go and we must continue to build the campaign to stop them and finally put paid to the HDV.
